Careers at Escentral

Wanted: Awesome timetablers and space managers

Our people make us who we are. If you’re a timetabling, space management, or HE professional training superstar, and you’d like to join a friendly, flexible and fun (if we do say so ourselves) team, we want to hear from you. And we can’t wait to meet you!

Why come and work with us

When we asked our founder and director, Ben, what it’s like to work at Escentral he told us this and we genuinely couldn’t think of a better way to put it:

Getting the right people is one of, if not the, most important thing for us. I want people to feel ownership over what they do, love to come to work, and be passionate about the work they provide for our clients. I also want to make sure they’re fairly rewarded and don’t work more hours than they should.”

Here’s what that looks like in the day to day…

A career where you get to lead

We want Escentral to be a place where you can develop your skills, expand your knowledge and skyrocket your career.

Escentral has evolved based on what our team is good at and really cares about.

We hold weekly ideas sessions, and a monthly ideas forum where everyone has a chance to share their ideas for the future – from how we can improve on the everyday stuff, to deciding which charities we support, and shaping the strategic direction of the company.

Remote-first, driven by collaboration and trust

We have a lovely office in Bristol but we’re remote-first so you’re not expected to be in the office (although for some space work you may need to be on-site).

We work really hard to make sure this works: We trust you to get on with things (there’s no micromanaging here!) but we all get regular check-ins and a ton of support and collaboration.

Proper work/life balance

One of the things we’re most proud of is our work/life balance… the serious real-life kind, not the one that exists only in job ads. We’re flexible on working hours and the number of hours you work per week. And we’re hot on making sure you close your laptop when you’re supposed to – and finding solutions if you’re working more hours than you should.

What’s it like to work here?

Instead of us telling you, we asked some of our team. Here’s what they said:
I came to Escentral because I wanted to work for a company that valued its employees and its clients. I was really excited to show how universities could effectively use all the data available to them to improve the experience of both staff and students.

I love the constant push for innovation, which is made possible by the autonomy afforded to everyone who works here. New ideas are encouraged and acted upon which makes the work really exciting and fulfilling, as you are able to use your creativeness.

It’s a place where you can enjoy and look forward to your work. Where you feel that your voice is heard and that your job really matters. The work is challenging but you’re always supported by everyone in the team. It’s the best job I’ve ever had.

Alex Savarani, Data Analyst
Escentral is a place for creative problem solvers who like managing their own time and dipping into a lot of different aspects of the business. This job is never boring or monotone – there’s always new things to explore. It’s a very dynamic environment that always makes space for the people in it.

As a team, we support each other in developing new ideas and continuously pushing Escentral forward. I like that we hit the right balance between loving our work but also having plenty of space for life outside of it. At the end of the day Escentral would never put work in front of our lives, we’re people first, employees second, and that’s why I think it’s such a great place to work.

When we started out, we didn’t want to just provide consultancy, we wanted to empower timetablers to carry out change themselves. And to start seeing timetabling as a brilliant career. I love that I get to see real impact on people’s professional lives and see them excel in their roles. I’ve been here since the beginning. And it’s been the ride of my life ever since.
Denisa Corte Real de Camargo, Learning and Development manager

What’s on offer?

It’s important that everyone in our team is rewarded fairly. We offer a decent holiday allowance (28 days holiday plus bank holidays for full time) and each year, we split 10% of the profit between all staff.

Want to join us, learn, grow and geek out over colour-coded spreadsheets together?

If that sounds like a dream job, we’d love to hear from you.
If we don’t have the perfect job listed below, but you think you’d be right at home in our team, we’d still love to hear from you. Send us an email to [email protected]
