When you start planning a new timetable, do you normally start from scratch? If the answer is ‘yes’, you need some rollover tactics to save you valuable time.

By this we mean taking your current timetable, giving it a good spring clean, and using what’s left as a handy start point for your new one. Here are our top three tips to get you on a roll.
Start by carrying out an audit to help you work out what will and won’t roll over into your new timetable. Weed out your ad-hoc and irregular bookings and give your data a good polish, to remove anything else that’s out of date and can be discarded.
Et voila… all your regular bookings are ready to carry over. Next, you need to plug in your new ones.
With the bones of your rollover timetable in place, you’re halfway there - and can factor in new requests more easily too. Get a full run down of any new modules and one-off bookings you’ll need to find space for.
Pro tip: ask stakeholders for a heads up on any on-site teaching sessions that may be moving online. New teaching methods are still being navigated post-pandemic, and often this key piece of information is relayed later rather than sooner!
The earlier you start your rollover the better, bearing in mind if you do hit any roadblocks, you’ll need to factor in time for additional data cleansing.
